Summerhill Trails

Rad jam up the woods the other day, been quite a while since the trails have been running this good and even longer since I have had anything worth posting on this blog ( I don't use Facebook so feel free to share around). Thanks to a solid crew of diggers, Jaye Riddle, Phillip Callard and Conner Knox we have managed to get a couple of lines going. In between riding I managed to film some clips and put this together, sorry for the average quality but I had to use what I had. Cheers to all the riders that made the trip for what was a good chill trails jam. Cheers.

The Warrior

As you all will know, Jed has recently landed the worlds first quad flip so amazing. However I thought I'd share a picture I snapped from early 2010 of Jed's first double flip. Only took him 5 years too multiply this by 2.

More indoor pic's

Snapped these few photos of Jed and Henry getting it done at the Mt Indoor, about a month ago and never got around to posting them. Not that you can get much done at that park, although thats a whole other story. Enjoy...

Langas Backyard Sessions

Headed over to the mighty C-Town on the weekend for a jam at the Patch on Saturday and Langlands backyard on Sunday. Some killer riding went down with a few international riders in town on their way down south for the Farm Jam and Roast-it, although the Kiwi's were definitely holding their own with Jon Riddle taking King of the trails with super consistent riding all weekend, Best rider, Danny Campbell (Aus), Danny is a shredder one to watch for sure, and Best trick Luke Parslow (Aus) with a super smooth 360 flip (or cork 7 whatever you like to call it) over the first. An awesome weekend was had by all, big thanks to Paul and Mat Langlands also Keith Shine for letting us camp in his backyard.

Went a little overboard and took a lot of pic's, check out the slideshow.

Trails

Few pics of Jed and Nate from a jam at the trails on the weekend, jumps still not fully running won't be long though. Pics are from the first on "Down Town" straight off the roll-in, everything has been lengthened and  steepened, don't forget your A game. Props has to go out to Jed and Nate for putting shovel to dirt and getting it done.

Nitro Circus Live

Just got sent though this press release, looks like Jed Mildon will be performing in Nitro Circus Live for their NZ tour. Sounds pretty sweet, good to see a kiwi in the line-up.

Jed Mildon, NZ’s triple back-flipping BMX maestro, confirmed to appear in Travis Pastrana’s Nitro Circus Live NZ tour 2013

In 2011 he became the first person to ever pull off a triple backflip on a BMX, with the video becoming a Youtube sensation, attracting over 9 million views and now, Taupo local, Jed Mildon will be performing a host of new tricks at each stop of the 2013 Nitro Circus Live tour of New Zealand.

The tour kicks off in late January 2013, going to Dunedin, Christchurch, Auckland, Hamilton and Wellington and winds up early February (full details below).

Jed, 26, will join a crew of equally skilled and audacious performers including fellow BMX whiz, James Foster (USA), another rider who, inspired by Jed, has also mastered the triple backflip. Double front-flipping Aussie Andy Buckworth (AUS) will also be there pulling off his trademark moves.

Nitro Circus Live Tour Promoter, Michael Porra, comments, “For the 2013 NZ tour, we have assembled the strongest line-up of BMX riders we’ve ever seen. Each rider is a true innovator and who knows what new tricks they’ll come up with once they’re side-by-side and being egged on by 15,000 screaming Kiwi fans.”

As well as the NZ tour, Jed will be auditioning to take part in future Nitro Circus Live tours scheduled for Latin America, the US and Asia later in 2013.

If everything goes as we expect and Jed blows everyone’s minds, then we’ll have no choice but to offer him a spot on future tours,” says Porra.

On his inclusion in the Nitro Circus Live NZ tour, Jed says, “It’s the best opportunity being able to perform with Nitro Circus Live at home with all the crazy big jump riders. I’m so happy that I get the chance to ride. I think I’ll do some flip tail whip variations and some double flips and it would be cool to combo them too. The kiwi crowds will make us go crazy. I’m stoked.”

Also on the tour will be the crew from the hit MTV series and the 3D movie, including Erik Roner (USA), Special Greg (USA), Streetbike Tommy (USA), Gregg Godfrey (USA) & Jeremy Rawle (USA).

In FMX, 13 times X Games medallist Nate Adams (USA) and the only rider performing consistent double backflips, Cam Sinclair (AUS) will be performing, as well as multiple X Games medallists Blake ‘Bilko’ Williams (AUS), & king of the FMX whip Jarryd McNeil (AUS), Sydney X Fighters Champion Josh Sheehan (AUS), Steve Mini (AUS), and Clinton Moore (AUS).

The 2013 NZ tour follows a 14 stop, 7 country sell-out tour of Europe.

About Nitro Circus Live
The Nitro Circus brand, founded by Travis Pastrana, Gregg Godfrey and Jeremy Rawle has enjoyed a rapid rise to global popularity, started by the innovative DVD series featuring Travis and friends performing outrageous stunts and on a range of crazy contraptions.

In 2009, they partnered with MTV to create a new smash hit TV series produced by Godfrey Entertainment and Dickhouse productions, which has aired to huge ratings in over 60 countries over two seasons.

Nitro Circus Live was created through a partnership between the creators of Nitro Circus and Australian based sports marketing & events company, Global Action Sports. The first ever tour in Australia became the highest grossing action sports show in Australian history with almost 120,000 tickets sold.

In 2011, Nitro Circus Live performed a record-breaking tour of New Zealand, which out-sold global performing acts such as AC/DC. The sold out, one-off show in Las Vegas followed in June 2011.

In 2012, Nitro Circus Live returned to Australia, and once again performed in front of over 110,000 spectators across the 5 capital cities.

Before the Australian regional tour commencing in early 2013, the Nitro Circus 3D Movie will be released across cinemas worldwide in late 2012, and the live tour will be embarking on its first ever tour of Europe, with shows across the UK, Germany, Austria, Sweden, Belgium, Holland & The Czech Republic

Taupo

Headed down to Taupo for the weekend, to catch up with Jed and a few Taupo locals, always a good time, also C-town local Hugh Wotherspoon was in town for some shenanigans. So I shot a few pics and filmed some clips, check out the small edit I threw together. The 3rd to last clip is a good reason why you shouldn't push your luck around water.

Long Water

Went for a fairly epic road trip on the weekend, to the Wairoa Y Not Jam, then also ended up in Napier on Sunday for a demo at Skate Zone.

I have to say the hospitality was second to none, big thanks to Darren Mildon and Catherine Couper for putting us up and feeding us very well, and Jed Mildon for bringing it all together.

Also the Mildon family put on a Hangi after the jam, absolutely amazing! Big thanks to them!

The weather held out the whole trip so we got some solid riding in, first in Taupo then Wairoa and Napier on the Sunday, check out the edit of the weekend below.

Got a sweet jam up the woods on Saturday before the rain showed up, a few of the PMP locals, Piggy and Nate came down for a roll, also Jed is back from his travels, straight off the plane to the trails before headed home to Taupo.

Henry, rocking a new set-up

Actually all these guys were rolling new set-ups, can't beat that new bike feel. I want a new bike now

2012

First post for 2012, happy new year.

Had major computer issues so haven't been able to post for a few weeks, small tip always back up, not that I didn't, just a good tip!

Because of the really shit weather we have been having,

first round of NZDS at Summerhill trails will be on the 28th January 2012.

On a side note here's a few pic's I shot of Jed in the last few weeks, when the weather permitted, this arguably has to be the wettest summer ever.

No one rides Taupo like Jed....... boosting on home turf just before the rain showed up.

Update from Jed

Here's an update from Jed on his journeys. Cheers Jed.

The past two weeks have been fun and productive. There was a video clip shoot for Chris Gentry at Stephen Murrays house a couple weeks ago. Other than that Luke and I have been jamming the yard and the new line the past week. Heres a photo of the Ute I got, a firework display at The Compound on July 4th and a Red Hawk, theres a nest of them close by and they learn to fly in the yard its cool. There was one of them the other morning eating a rat of the top of the big trick landing.

The Is What It Is Jam is set for next weekend 16th July in the back yard. Looks sick Vans and Pro Tech are sponsoring it so it looks like it will be some fun times! The weekend after is 1st round of Dew Tour Park in Beach City Merylands on the East Coast. So ill have some news for you all soon.

Thanks heaps,
Jed

Tribute

So, as you probably already know, along with the rest off the world. On the 28th of May 2011 BMX history was made, Jed Mildon landed the worlds first triple backflip, hes come along way since the 2002 X-Air, Jed walks up to me and says "Carl bro I just landed my first backflip" I was pretty for stoked for him then, Then he proceeded to land his first and NZ's first Backflip Tailwhip the next day in park (very impressive). Now, 5 million hits on utube the man has become a legend, (I already thought he was but thats another story) and an invite to the X games, doors will be opening now!
Congratulations Jed and good luck in America, you've put NZ bmx on the map, proud of you bro, nothing will even come close to being that awsome, apparently theres a Rugby world cup in NZ this year....... "Allblacks"........who are they?

Yeah NZ bmx.

Heres a montage of some of my favorite pics of Jed, I've taken over the last few years.
